Thoughts raced through my mind of things I wanted to accomplish - winning Olympic medals, being the best and enhancing others' lives by helping them reach their full potential. I know the importance of having a solid foundation and positive support. Throughout the years, I've encountered many challenges and had to reach inside myself for powerful spiritual and physical forces to make it through. These forces enabled me to become successful.

Now it's time for me to give back. I believe access and opportunity distinguishes people - not race, creed or color. The Gail Devers Foundation, Inc. levels the playing field by providing all people with access and opportunity for education, health awareness and athletics. Those involved with the Foundation are making a difference by motivating youth and encouraging within them a positive attitude and high self-esteem so that they become productive individuals. Plus, we involve elders in community activities to let them know they are important and we want to learn from their wisdom.

Through the Gail Devers Foundation, Inc., we raise funds for the Gail Force Enhancement Center, a community-based facility offering scholarships, mentoring and educational and vocational programs to help make our youth competitive in the job market. The Center will serve as a safe haven for those in need while providing opportunities, activities and challenges to keep youth off the street and focused on becoming successful adults. This will help boost the number of youth graduating from high schools, seeking higher education opportunities and achieving their dreams.

The Gail Devers Foundation, Inc., drives minds to dream and teaches all people the true meaning of F.O.R.C.E. - Focus On Respect and Commit to Excellence. If we all embrace the force and model our lives accordingly, this world and our communities will be a better place for us and generations to come. By joining forces, we can make a difference in others' lives and inspire positive change..
