The Youth of our community need our help. With an obesity rate almost 3 times higher than children from China, we must take action. The percentage level of overweight or obese American kids has soared to a level that public officials are calling it an epidemic. Many excess deaths are believed to have occurred in the US (over 300,000) with obese health care costing near 1 billion dollars.

While their young, we need to reach out to our youth, with preventive education, active programs and access to resources that can lower our tragedies. Our youth are our future and we owe it to ourselves to preserve their potential.

The Gail Devers Foundation, along with the Partnership of the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, has come together to support such a great cause.

We also hope to aide in the development and enhancement of after school programs and activities to ensure that kids are safe and supervised. Also, due to the recent Tsunami Tragedies, The Gail Devers Foundation will make a special donation on behalf of the youth of Georgia.

Your support can bring a change to the youth of our nation one community at a time.
